The Hirose 10-way (female) screw-lock connector was fitted to the SQN-4S Series II, SQN-4S Series III, and SQN-4S Series IIIa models. Although it ceased to the 'standard' Main I/O after 1997, it may be encountered fitted SQN mixers manufactured after this date - including our current models, fitted in lieu of the Tajimi 12-way (female) push-pull locking connector, the standard Main I/O on SQN mixers since 1997.
Alternative adapter for Hirose 10-way interface: SQN-HRS_DIN5M.
In its standard configuration, the Neutrik XLR-7F connector of the SQN-X7S cable assembly presents the output of individual channels on Neutrik XLR-3M connectors and Ch.Left / Ch.Right
output on a 3.5mm (female) TRS connector.
The standard length of this assembly (60cm) permits connection to a recorder whose inputs are on the opposite side to the XLR-7M output connector of the SQN-4S_mini mk II when mixer and recorder are 'stacked' or share an equipment bag.
Typically used to interface with the mic input sockets of DSLR cameras, the -10dBV output on the XLR-7M chassis connector of the SQN-4S_mini mk II is attenuated within the cable to suit the requirments of particular cameras.
The SQN-BS4 is recommended when the full range of functions permitted by the mixer's Subsidiary I/O, chassis socket [B], is required and in consequence both the Hirose 12-pin 'push/pull' locking plug to chassis socket [B] and the Hirose 12-way 'screw-lock' interface are fully wired.
Because of the pin configuration of chassis socket [B] particular to the SQN-4S Series IV mixer, the mixer model (Series IV or Series IVe) must be specified when ordering.
A standard SQN-BS4 cable assembly (illustrated below) presents the output of individual channels on Neutrik XLR-3M connectors. On the cable illustrated below, channel outputs have been identified according to the following convention: Brown = 1, Red = 2, Orange = 3, and Yellow = 4.
TA3F type connectors may be specified from Channel 3 and Channel 4 output so as to interface with certain recorders without having recourse to adapters, and at no extra charge.
Because of its modular construction, custom output sections may be specified (e.g. to provide single or multiple mix, Channel Left/Channel Right, output, and/or an input of Channel Left/Channel Right to the mix bus.
Because of the pin configuration of chassis socket [B] particular to the SQN-4S Series IV mixer, the mixer model (Series IV or Series IVe) must be specified when ordering.
A standard SQN-BS4_Bdirect cable assembly (illustrated below) presents the output of individual channels directly from the mixer's chassis socket [B] to four Neutrik XLR-3M connectors and is ~70cm long. TA3F type connectors may be specified for Channel 3 and Channel 4 output so as to interface with certain recorders without having recourse to adapters, and at no extra charge.
Due to the 'throat' diameter of the Hirose 12-pin 'push/pull' locking connector, variants of the SQN-BS4_Bdirect cable are limited to a single mix, Channel Left/Channel Right, output, or a Channel Left/Channel Right input to the mix bus.
The SQN-BS5 is recommended when the full range of functions permitted by the mixer's Subsidiary I/O, chassis socket [B], is required and in consequence both the Hirose 12-pin 'push/pull' locking plug to chassis socket [B] and the Hirose 12-way 'screw-lock' interface are fully wired.
A standard SQN-BS5 cable assembly (illustrated below) presents the output of individual channels directly from the mixer's chassis socket [B] to four Neutrik XLR-3M connectors and is ~70cm long. On the cable illustrated below, channel outputs have been identified according to the following convention: Brown = 1, Red = 2, Orange = 3, Yellow = 4, and Green = 5.
TA3F type connectors may be specified from Channel 3, Channel 4, and Channel 5 output so as to interface with certain recorders without having recourse to adapters, and at no extra charge.
The 'throat' diameter of the Hirose 12-pin 'push/pull' locking connector, permits variants of the SQN-BS5 cable. For example an unbalanced mix output as Channel Left/Channel Right, a Channel Left/Channel Right input to the mix bus, or pre-fader/post-fader switching (see below).
The SQN-BS5_Bdirect cable assembly illustrated below presents the output of individual channels directly from the mixer's chassis socket [B] in the following manner: Channel 1 and Channel 2 are output via Neutrik XLR-3M connectors and Channels 3, 4, and 5 are output via TA3F connectors. Alternatively, all channels can be presented on Neutrik XLR-3M connectors. The cable assembly is ~70cm long.
Due to the 'throat' diameter of the Hirose 12-pin 'push/pull' locking connector, additional cable 'entries' are not possible. Variants of the Bdirect concept can be provided after discussion with the customer to understand their particular requirements, and agreement upon a configuration is reached.
*Due to the 'throat' diameter of the Hirose 12-pin 'push/pull' locking connector restricting the number of cable entries, a 5-channel output cable from chassis socket [B] that incorporates a control cable (or other functions) must utilise a single multi-core (screened) cable and the larger Hirose 12-way screw-lock 'break-out' interface of the standard SQN-BS5 cable assembly.
Because of its rejection of radio frequency and electromagnetic interference, Van Damme Classic Starquad cable is used. Cables are terminated with Neutrik NC3MXHD and Switchcraft TA3FLX connectors .
The cable is terminated with a locking (Sennheiser) 3.5mm TRS plug and Switchcraft TA3FLX connector. The cable is compatible with a TA3M 'active balanced output' chassis connector (such as is found on the Sound Devices SD644).
Universal input 90-264 Vac. Includes UK, Euro, Australian and USA plug adaptors. Its locking Hirose 4-pin (male) plug connects to either the [DC] or [PT] chassis sockets of an SQN audio mixer.
